United Airlines
United Airlines has appointed Joe Mannix as General Manager - Thailand. Mannix is a United Airlines veteran with 36 years experience at the company. His previous experience in Asia includes terms in South Korea and Vietnam, with his most recent role as Country Manager - Vietnam
Travelport Holidays
TravelPort Holidays has appointed Adil J Bajirao as Senior Vice President. Amongst his initial projects will be to set up a luxury division for the company to compliment its existing FIT and MICE divisions. Adil brings with him over 15 years of experience in the travel and airline industry. His last assignment was with TCI as an Associate Vice President in its leisure Division. He is a post graduate from TISS and having recently completed a Management Development Program at IIM - Ahmedabad, is in the process of completing his MBA in Marketing."
Thomas Cook (India)
Thomas Cook (India) (TCIL) announced the appointment of Angus Porter, to the board of directors today. Porter is very familiar and extremely knowledgeable about the travel industry as he was recently appointed as the group strategy director of Thomas Cook Group plc, prior to that he has been an independent non executive director on the Thomas Cook Group plc board since June 2007, and before that a non executive director of the MyTravel Group plc board for five years.

Porter's role is to drive key strategies of Thomas Cook Group, look for opportunities in new markets and develop new products and services. He will also take on strategic responsibility for the Thomas Cook brand and oversee the Group's strategic e-commerce agenda

Silversea Cruises
Silversea Cruises has appointed Andre Nordseth as vice president of hotel operations. In this position, he is responsible for overseeing the areas of hotel operations, entertainment, food and beverage, concessionaires and purchasing for the ultra-luxury line. Based in the Fort Lauderdale office, he reports to Christian Sauleau, executive vice president of fleet operations.

Most recently, Nordseth served as vice president of hotel operations and onboard revenue for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Prior to his tenure at Regent, he was director of operations for Blue Lagoon Cruises in the South Pacific

Qantas
Alan Joyce is to become chief executive officer of Qantas upon the retirement of Geoff Dixon after Qantas' Annual General Meeting on 28 November 2008. Joyce was previously chief executive officer of Qantas subsidiary airline Jetstar.

Joyce has 20 years of experience in the aviation industry including 15 years in leadership positions for full service carriers Qantas, Ansett and Aer Lingus

OnAir
OnAir has appointed Luc Cousin as chief programmes officer (CPO), and established a regional presence in Dubai, UAE and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As CPO, Luc Cousin will be responsible for programme planning and customer delivery, and for coordinating and supervising OnAir's activities for installation, entry into service and equipment support. Cousin will be a member of OnAir's Executive Committee and will play a critical role in the deployment of OnAir services on various aircraft types. He previously worked in Airbus Customer Services, where he led several projects in change management and strategy

Franck Michaud has been appointed as head of business development Middle East, based in Dubai. Hans Jurgen Stoffer and Laurent Philippe, both based in Kuala Lumpur, have joined OnAir as head of aircraft programmes for Asia Pacific and as head of business development for Asia Pacific respectively

Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau
The Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB) has appointed Christine Judd as director of sales. Judd has 25 years' hospitality experience across four continents and was most recently director of marketing at the Four Seasons Hotel Santa Barbara, California.

She will steer the SCVB's expanded sales team as it steps up its business development initiatives worldwide, backed by the bureau's new partnership with Events New South Wales

Jumeirah Group
Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury international hospitality management group and member of Dubai Holding, has appointed Thomas Grundner as vice president sales.

Prior to joining Jumeirah, Grundner held senior sales positions with several key hotel companies in Abu Dhabi, Germany, Egypt and Spain

Carlson Hotels
Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific, has appointed Jay Krishnan as its first regional director of corporate communications.

Krishnan will be based at Carlson's regional corporate office in Singapore and joins the company with a decade of public relations industry experience. In her new role, Krishnan will report directly to Martin Rinck, president and managing director, Carlson Hotels Worldwide - Asia Pacific
