Banasura Hill Resort: A life of silence

Nestled among the mountains of the Sahya Ranges, Wayanad is one of the beautiful hill stations of Kerala with its pristine nature. Banasura Hill Resort, located in Pulinjal near Mananthavady and Vellamunda, has been designed and developed with undue respect to the Mother Nature and the cultural heritage of the land around. The project is conceived and implemented by Assyst Global Services, which is promoted by a group of investors having interests in IT enabled services. Thirty-four elegantly rustic villas and rooms with wonderful landscaped gardens offer total privacy and idyllic bliss, complemented by the breeze from the hills and the lapping sounds of serene tropical forest, Banasura Hill Resort provides the perfect seclusion for a peaceful retreat.

In and around this resort, there are four Adivasi colonies. The place Pulinjal and the Banasura Hill were used by Pazhassi Raja for guerilla war against Britishers. The promoters have adapted construction method of the Mesopotamian period with maximum use of locally available materials like mud and natural stones. "As a part of responsibility towards the local community, mainly the ethnic groups with traditional skills have been utilized in the process of making the resort", said O M Rakesh, executive director, Banasura Hill Resort. Rakesh is actively involved with all aspects of travel business including management, marketing and operations for more than 15 years in the hotel industry.

At about 3,500 ft. above sea level Banasura Hill Resort is the ideal spot to get acquainted with nature in its purest form. Each of the villas and rooms are designed to get a view of the Banasura Hills and its valley in the backdrop. And not to forget, the interior settings are augmented with the very latest in technical standards, design, luxury and quality.

Some of the special activities here include pot making, Indian culinary cooking classes, film shows on wildlife & spices and campfire with ethnic attractive programmes, virtual and board games for kids and families, land sports like jeep safari, bicycle hire, tropical forest visit, natural trails, tribal village visit, trekking, plantation visits, river walking are the other major attractions. A beautiful waterfall and a natural cave are among the onsite special features. More than that the beautiful part of Wayanad where one can see both lifestyle and serene beauty is towards here which includes, Banasura Sagar Dam (Asia's biggest earth dam), Kuruva island, Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary, Pazhassi resort, Thirunelli Temple, Pakshipaathaalam bird sanctuary, Kottiyoor temple, etc and a small drive down towards Karnataka one can see Nagarhole, Irippu waterfalls, Elephant camps to name a few.
