RIL rumoured to enter online travel space

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries (RIL) is rumoured to be eyeing the online travel space. Industry distributors reveal to Express TravelWorld that after RIL showed interest in the proposed deal between Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications (RCOM) and South African telecom giant MTN, it is now gearing up to set its foot in the online travel space under the name Yatrik.com, similar to Yatra.com where Reliance-Anil Dhirbuhai Ambani Group owns a stake.

This move comes almost three years after Kokilaben Ambani announced an "amicable settlement" between her warring sons, Anil and Mukesh over the nature of businesses each of them can enter into and also on the control of the various businesses of the empire built by their father Dhirubhai Ambani.

There was no response by RIL's corporate communications department at the time of going to press.
