BMTC, VIA to provide airport-city shuttle service

With the launch of Airport - City Shuttle Service by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in collaboration with VIA- provider of travel ticketing solutions in India, flight passengers commuting the distance between Bengaluru and the international airport at Devanahalli have access to a service that is both cost efficient and convenient. The service includes pick-up and drop points conveniently located around the city and commuters can buy tickets through VIA by dialing a special number 139 dedicated to this service or by logging on to VIA's website, www.viaworld.in. Forty air-conditioned Volvo buses named 'Vayu Vajra' will ply across seven destinations in the city and will cover nine routes, every 15 minutes. There will also be a cheaper option of 116 non-a/c buses named 'Suvarna,' which will ply during peak hours.

"VIA, with a network of more than 8500 agents across the country, 700 of who are present in the state of Karnataka, is our preferred choice for this partnership not only because of its vast physical presence but also because it is the only travel ticketing company that sells flights as well as bus tickets," said BMTC MD, Upendra Tripathi.
