Zurich-based Star Alliance member - Swiss International Air
Lines - is working on directional imbalances because of the
seasonal nature of travel. Jean-Philippe Benoit, its GM (India,
Sri Lanka, Nepal & Bangladesh), said that although the
airline had received good response, it wants to balance it
with directional imbalance. "
FlyDubai
to launch by mid-2009
The much awaited Dubai's low-cost carrier FlyDubai is set
to be launched by mid-2009. HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum,
chairman of the new airline said, "FlyDubai is a simple,
yet powerful call to action.

Maunu von Lueders, the recently-appointed CEO of Jet Airways'
low-cost subsidiary JetLite, believes that lines between full-service
and low-cost carriers are blurring.
Jeppesen
to enter India through Hyderabad by Q3
Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen Commercial & Military Aviation,
known for its navigation and operation solutions to airlines
the world over, has expressed concrete plans of setting up
shop in India to make its services available to Indian carriers.

Leaders of airlines worldwide have unanimously agreed to a
resolution calling for governments, airports and labour to
take immediate action to help the industry survive the growing
financial crisis.

VIA to provide airport-city shuttle service
With the launch of Airport - City Shuttle Service by Bangalore
Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in collaboration
with VIA- provider of travel ticketing solutions in India,
flight passengers commuting the distance between Bengaluru
and the international airport at Devanahalli have access to
a service that is both cost efficient and convenient.

carriers find India operations profitable
At a time when air-carriers across the globe are cutting down
on unprofitable routes, airlines like SriLankan Airlines and
Gulf-based carriers like Emirates and Etihad Airways amongst
others, are upbeat about gaining access to newer markets in
India.
Global
MRO major Lufthansa Technik to set foot on Indian soil
Lufthansa Technik, the world's largest maintenance, repair
and overhaul (MRO) company, will set up a facility in the
country, in a joint venture with the Hyderabad-based GMR group.
