Pevonia India to tap the growing spa market

To invest approximately Rs 20 crore in spa institute, spa products

Sanjeev Bhar - New Delhi

Pevonia India, the Indian arm of the US based company Pevonia Botanica, is set to tap the growing Indian spa market and will soon set up a spa academy. Speaking to Express TravelWorld, F J Singh, managing director of the company revealed, "Pevonia India's spa academy is coming up in the capital within two months. The spa academy is an ambitious project. The 40,000 sq ft academy will be set up as a joint venture and will cater to the needs of the spa industry. Its in-depth curriculum will target professionals from the hotel sector. It can accommodate 600 students at any given time." However, he declined to reveal which company Pevonia India has tied-up with.

Pevonia India is looking to establish a pan-India presence. "We will invest around Rs 15-20 crores in this phase," Singh said. Pevonia Botanica, an elite spa care line, is part of the CosmoproGroup which offers product and service solutions to the spa, salon and medical industry. Other related brands will also be introduced. Singh disclosed, "We are in talks with high-end French and Italian companies to bring in quality spa products in India."

Pevonia India's product line also includes spa equipments under the brand Cosmopro Equipment. It will also provide consultancy to hotel companies for the setting up of spas, replicating the Cosmopro Groups' Interdesign Spa Consulting Group (ISCG), which is known for providing pre and post-operational consulting services for spas.

"We are not looking for exclusive contracts. We want an all-India presence and will tie-up with premier hotel groups or boutique hotel spas. We hope to achieve our targets in the next four months, with the assistance of our Mumbai and Bangalore offices," Singh said.
