Bird Group diversifies into marine segment with Bird Marine
To represent & market yacht manufacturers, provide
yacht services

Bird Marine, the recently-formed division of Bird Group's
Luxury Entity department, has signed an agreement to represent Italy-based Cranchi
and market its luxury yachts in India. Speaking to select media persons in Mumbai,
Charles Carnerio, head (Marketing & Corporate Communications), Bird Group,
said, "We have taken a strategic decision not to restrict ourselves to
the travel and tourism segment and add value to the current consumer base and
also attract the newer base."
"Three-fourth of a million population has a disposable
income of over US$ 1,00,000 and globally rich people prefer spending on cars
and boats. We have signed an agreement with Cranchi and in the next few months
we will build a marina on the western coast," informed Carnerio.
Remarked Alessandra Cranchi, MD of Cranchi, "The Indian
market is looking at the pleasures of boating and we have been looking for a
partner for long to be the official, exclusive importer of our brand in the
country." For the marina, the company is exploring investment options -
private as well as public-private partnerships with the state governments with
a short to mid-term time frame to build it - and aims to sell about 100 yachts
a year in the coming years with a target of selling ten yachts within a year
alone, offering a product range of 18 models.
