BIAL receives test flights

EAW Staff - Bengaluru

The Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) conducted flight trials in early March, Kingfisher Airlines, Deccan and the Indian Air Force participated in these trials.

Speaking at the occasion, Alber Brunner, CEO, BIAL said, "This is a historic moment and its realisation is what all cherish." The trials began in January with basic trials, followed by advanced, integrated, full-back with emergency trials. The public trials were conducted in near live conditions as Kingfisher Airlines' A320 used the aerobridge after touchdown, while the Deccan flight used the remote parking bay and tested the domestic arrival process.

Brunner further added, "The timing of these trials couldn't be better with the airport being three weeks away from opening for commercial operations. The first few months of operations will be critical for the airport."

Originally, the airport was schedule to open on 30th March but has now been delayed to 11th May as the Ministry of Civil Aviation has sought a consideration of a suitable airport opening date due to delays on the Air Traffic Control (ATC) services.
