Jacob Online, part of the London-based JAC Travel Group that supplies net rate
hotels to the travel and online industry, has delayed its India operations,
according to David K Singh, its general manager. Speaking to Express TravelWorld,
he says, "Due to operational reasons, we would now launch completely by
the end of this year instead of our original plan of starting by mid-year."
According to him, the company is looking at acquiring 200 properties in the
country which would include boutique and independent properties in addition
to certain renowned hotel chains. "We haven't taken our job to task here
in India. We want to consolidate with Indian hotels for the inbound traffic
in the country. But we want to formulate the outbound market before contracting
them," he said.As per information provided by the company, Jacob Online
contracts over 3,000 hotels inspected by its team of buyers who negotiate net
rates and allotments. Its customers range from major tour operators and online
retailers to medium and small tour operators. It has over 500 active partners
around the world booking over 5,00,000 passengers a year.
