Rajasthan Tourism gets innovative

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, The Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), are scheduled to organise, The Great Indian Travel Bazaar 08, - an international tourism mart on April 21-23, 2008 at B M Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Usha Sharma, Commissioner, Rajasthan Tourism, said the objective of the event was to reinforce India as a ''world class tourist destination''.

Around 100 foreign tour operators and travel writers from 30 countries are expected to participate in the event. Over 500 key tourism product sellers from Rajasthan and the rest of the country would showcase their products in the event. Structured interactive sessions spread over three days for brainstorming opportunities and potential of Indian tourism with national and international experts will also be part of the event. Travel trade associations like Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Hotel and Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR) and Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) are also supporting the event.

The objective of this event is to reinforce India as a world-class tourism destination with its myriad attractions. The event has been structured in the following manner :

  • A Travel Bazaar comprising over 200 booths to showcase and market the varied tourism products of India.
  • Opportunity for innumerable buyer-seller meetings spread over the 3-day event.
  • Structured interactive sessions spread over three day for brainstorming on opportunities and potential of India's Tourism with national and international experts.
  • Social networking events, delightful Indian cuisine and vibrant cultural programme.

Rajasthan Tourism is also due to celebrate Rajasthan Day 2008, from 24-30, March 2008. Some of the events proposed at the state level are as follows,

  • Inaugural Ceremony- Run for Rajasthan
  • Craft cum Night Bazaar at Jawahar Kala Kendra and Parsuramdwara
  • Rural and traditional Sports,
  • Rajasthani Food Festival
  • Surya Kiran' Air Show by IAF
  • Army Show
  • Adventure Sports Festival
  • Festival of Indian Classical Dances
  • Children's Film Festival
  • Police Tattoo Show
  • BSF Camel Show
  • Theatre Festival by Prominent Artists
  • Rajasthan Tourism Polo and Golf Tournament
  • Fireworks on Opening and Closing Day.
