This is the very first award for Yatra.com and it feels just
fantastic. I have no words to describe the feeling. This has been our first
award ever in the one year since we started operations. Getting the Galileo
Express TravelWorld Award is a clear indication of the best of efforts that
the Yatra.com team has put in over this one year. The award is a true celebration
of all the hard work done.
Receiving the prized 'Columbus' is a sure encouragement -
it provides immense motivation to strive to create and offer the best services
in the future also. The award happens to be all the more special as it comes
from an eminent jury, after being scrutinised and selected by the best of the
fraternity, who ensured choosing the one that truly stood out. It makes me proud
to say that our advertising and marketing stands out. And, we at Yatra.com endeavour
to continue doing this. Therefore, it becomes our responsibility to continue
to work in the same way, to ensure that even next year we become worthy-defending
champions.
As for the future plans of the company, currently our target is to open retail
spaces all over the country, starting with the six major metros and further
expanding into the tier II cities. In the year 2008, we aim to open about 30-40
stores across the country. Yatra is likely to close at a turnover of about US$
120 million this year and, with average revenue of US$ 15 million per month,
we have a long way ahead. The award will not only help us, but always stand
out in our minds, providing the necessary impetus.
