TAAI Convention 2007
TAAI theme is Growth though Evolution
Reema Sisodia - Mumbai
The
56th Indian Travel Congress, the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) Convention
is all set to address the most pertinent and pressing issue facing the Indian
travel and tourism industry that is about accepting change and being drivers
of change rather than being driven. There is no defending or denying the fact
that the business dynamics have changed in the recent times, with the advent
of super sonic technology.
A consensus has been reached that one can achieve growth
only through evolution and change, and accepting change faster is not only vital
but indispensable for survival. 'The one who accepts it faster, is the one who
is definitely smarter' is the new understanding. Throwing light on the theme,
Rajinder Rai, convention chairman, vice president, TAAI, chairman cum managing
director, Swiftravel International said, "With so much evolving all around
in our travel and tourism industry, TAAI has decided that this year, our theme
for the Indian Travel Congress in Chennai should be aptly titled Growth
through Evolution. Every aspect of our industry is seeing growth through
evolution and TAAI is going to showcase this amazing phase to our delegates
at the convention. I hope the graph of this trend will rise even further. I
wish to extend a hearty welcome to our industry friends and hope you will carry
home beautiful memories of a wonderful and meaningful convention."

Adds Shubhada Joshi, Hon secretary general, TAAI and director, Girikand Travels,
"Growth through Evolution. It is the most fitting theme which gels with
the situations that we agents are going through. For the last few years we have
all been talking of changes, their challenges, and diversifications and so on
and so forth. But the time has now come where we as agents pick up from all
that we have learnt over the years and evolve into what suits our capabilities
and get to do what we are best at. I think we are in the best of times now."
C Venkateshwara Prasad, president TAAI and managing director, Travel Express,
goes a step further adding, "We also aim to project and promote the city
of Chennai as a potential MICE destination through this convention. Conventions
can serve as the right platform to showcase the potential of destinations and
what it has to offer in terms of business to the trade. We are pleased to be
here in Chennai and hope the next few days prove to be fruitful for every delegate
present here."
