IndiGo adds daily flights from Mumbai to Goa & Kochi

EAW Staff

IndiGo, the low-fare domestic airline took delivery of its 12th brand new Airbus A320 aircraft from Airbus in Toulouse, France on September 11 2007. IndiGo will operate this aircraft to add daily non-stop flights from Mumbai to Goa and back, and also operate to Kochi via Goa.

Speaking on the additional services from Mumbai, Bruce Ashby, President and CEO of IndiGo said, "At IndiGo, we are steadily building our route network. After launching operations in August 2006, IndiGo has now carried over 2.3 million passengers on over 18,000 flights, and this number is increasing every day. We are further consolidating our presence in India by strengthening our connectivity in the cities we already serve"

"When you put together our affordable fares and outstanding operational performance with the kind of touches that make IndiGo stand out - such as brand new airplanes, comfortable seats, superior staff, air conditioned buses, and hassle-reducing innovations like our handheld check-in devices, web check-in, and aircraft boarding ramps (instead of stairs), we think that IndiGo has redefined the standards for low-fare carriers in India", he further added.

With its 12th aircraft, the airline now operates 88 daily flights flying to 15 destinations, including Agartala, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Vadodara. IndiGo will take delivery of three additional brand-new A320 aircraft this year, taking the fleet size to 15 by the end of 2007. It plans to serve approximately 30 Indian cities by 2010, with a fleet of approximately 40 A320s.
