ETW Staff - Mumbai

With a view to encourage e-ticket usage, Indian Railways has reduced the e-ticket service charges from July 1, 2007. Minimum charge of Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for e-tickets for Sleeper Class has been reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 10 per ticket.

Besides these minimum charges, the other additional charges per passenger will continue as at present. Service charges for issuing e-ticket for Rail Travellers Service Agents (RTSA)/Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI)/Indian Association of Tour Agents (IATA) members, petrol pumps, ATMs, Electronic Point of Sale (e-POS) and e-seva counters shall be reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 10 per ticket for Sleeper/2S classes and from Rs 25 to Rs 20 per ticket for AC classes.

IRCTC, who has been authorised to expand e-ticketing facility to outside agencies, has appointed more than 8,000 agents for booking e-tickets, which include RTSAs, RTAs, GSAs, members of IATA and TAAI, petrol pumps of Bharat Petroleum, District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioners of State Governments, e-seva centres of Andhra Pradesh Government, e-POS through ICICI.

The reserved tickets will also be issued from post offices in near future for which the modalities have already been finalized and agreement is likely to be signed shortly.
