Travelmartindia launches B2B portal
Andrea Lopez - Mumbai
In a move to keep pace with the rapidly growing online travel business, Travelmartindia
has launched a B2B portal called Matrix Online. The website will
offer a wide range of products to both IATA and non-IATA agents and will offer
domestic, international and LCC bookings as well as hotel bookings all under
one platform.
Says Dharmendra Gursahani, CEO, Travelmartindia.com, "B2B is a big market,
and Travelmart has been in the industry for a long time. The Indian market,
although huge is a very fragmented one, making it difficult to reach a wide
audience with an offline business. The online space reaches out to a wider audience.
Moreover, people no longer have inhibitions about using credit cards to transact
online." The portal will also offer holidays at 40,000 hotels 20,000 apartments
worldwide, apart from sightseeing vouchers. Eurail and Brit rail products will
also be on offer.
There must be around 12,000 travel agents in India today and 150 have
already been signed up. Travelmart expects to pool in 1,000 travel agents by
the end of this year and ,3000 by the end of the year," said Gursahani.
