MoT plans to put medical tourism on e-commerce platform

ETW Staff - Mumbai

The ministry of tourism proposes to place medical tourism on its recently launched e-commerce platform amongst other niche tourism products on its website www.incredibleindia.org. This initiative aims to facilitate customers to communicate directly with agencies, tour operators, hotels and Bed & Breakfast establishments 24-hour a day.

Ambika Soni, minister for tourism & culture, government of India said that while it is important for us to woo more tourists to this country through powerful global campaigns, it is equally important to continue the focus on upgrading and improving the quality of infrastructure on ground.

The ministry will integrate third party consolidators and multiple partners through eviivo's technology.

MOT, India wins PATA Gold Award

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has won the four 'best-of-show' Grand Awards in the marketing category given out by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards.

Targeted at affluent travellers from the US, Europe, Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East, the Incredible India global campaign has helped to drive strong double-digit growth in foreign visitor arrivals into India. Leveraging India's colour and cultural diversity in the campaign, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture made aggressive use of traditional above-the-line advertising as well as interactive new media, including several micro sites and 11 online contests. The winners will be honoured at a special luncheon during the PATA Travel Mart 2007 in Bali on September 28.
