EAW Staff - Mumbai
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has been awarded ACI Europe's Best Airport Award
2007. ACI (Airports Council International) is the international organisation
for airports operators. Ad Rutten, executive vice president & CEO of Schiphol
group received the prize during ACI Europe Best Airport Award 2007 ceremony
in Zurich recently. The airport won the first prize in the category of airports
with annual passenger numbers exceeding 25 million. Nominated airports were
judged on five criteria, namely; retail, security, facilities, community relationship,
environmental awareness and service.
Rutten said he was very proud that Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was awarded this
prize. "It illustrates that Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is an innovative
airport and highlights that we focus on more than just passengers and airlines.
We also focus on the community and our environment."
An Airport City is today envisaged as a dynamic environment in which people
and businesses, logistics and shops, information and entertainment come together
and strengthen each other.
With airport facilities second to none - hotel bookings, airline lounges, online
money transfers, children play areas, communication centers, shopping, bars
and restaurants and much, much more - it is here at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
that the Airport City concept is at its most advanced stage of development and
implementation.
