City Group to launch chartered operations
Chetan Kapoor - Mumbai
City Group, known for its car rental services City Limouzines, is looking at
offering chartered operations under its newly-launched company City Airlines.
It recently got the launch schedule operating permit by the DGCA.
Speaking exclusively to Express AviationWorld, Air-Vice Marshal (Retd) NI Razzaqui,
managing director of City Airlines, said, "It took us a year to get the
launch schedule operating permit. We are now waiting for the non-schedule operating
permit. We have also got permission to import two Beechcrafts. However, we are
importing just one at the moment so as to gain experience and expand our operations
later."
The company plans to lease a C90B aircraft, which can seat five to six passengers.
In addition, it desires to base its operations in Mumbai but has got tentative
parking arrangements at Surat and Jabalpur. Interestingly, the company's long-term
vision is to have low-cost operations.
