European Railways-owned Rail Europe has joined hands with
major European tourism boards to promote seamless travel in Europe by trains.
The tourism boards of France, Switzerland, Italy and the UK came together in
this Rail Europe initiative.
Gopi Iengar, its area manager (India & South Asia), announcing the launch
of Rail Europe's new logo, explained, "The typography of Rail Europe's
new logo signifies statutory, elegant, powerful and contemporary. Our marketing
strategy for India reflects the philosophy behind our new logo colours - the
symbiotic relationship between European nations and Rail Europe. We will be
working in close co-operation with European NTOs in mono and multiple country
campaigns to strengthen our position."
Speeding up growth for Rail Europe are its High Speed train partners including
Eurostar. Matt Jones, representing Eurostar, quipped "With our HS1 Initiative
encompassing the high speed line from London St Pancras International to the
channel tunnel, the journey time to Paris/Brussels will shorten further with
the London-Paris route taking only 2.5 hours. Come November 2007, Eurostar will
unveil its HS1 Initiative and London St Pancras International Terminal which
is indeed a destination in itself."
According to Salvatore Ianniello, representative in India for ENIT, Italy is
looking at India keenly. "Visits by our high level delegations prove that
Italy is serious about India as a key market. In fact the Italian government
has declared India as a focus country in its activities for the year 2007."
