Sreedhari Ayurvedic Resort: A journey back in time

Not far away from Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, are the magnificent waterfalls of Athirapilly and the picturesque Peechi Dam site. Situated as they are amidst lush tropical forests, these scenic locales introduce visitors to the magic that is Kerala. En route, the country comes alive with undulating paddy fields, swaying coconut palms, cool backwaters and palm-fringed lagoons. The setting looks perfect for a peaceful sojourn in the lap of nature. Against the backdrop of small hills and dales, amidst the greenery and tranquility of this beautiful countryside nestles the Sreedhari Ayurvedic Resort.

Sreedhari Ayurvedic Resorts symbolises a continuing tradition of ayurvedic healthcare service, one that began nearly 70 years ago with the inception of the Sreedhari group. As established name in ayurvedic treatment and production of ayurvedic medicines, Sreedhari group is the driving force behind this venture. S Sreedharan Namboodiri, the founder of Sreedhari institutions, belonged to a long chain of celebrated ayurvedic practitioners of legendary fame.

The resort is ideally located on a verdant stretch of land, flanked by the serene waters of Peechi River. It is spread over a sprawling riverside plot, under the canopy offered by the lush growth of coconut palms, nutmeg trees and a variety of medicinal herbs. The cottages, treatment room, dispensary, office building, dining, are all so designed as to preserve the natural beauty of the locale. The greenery of the site has been left untouched, and buildings blend unobtrusively with the sylvan surroundings. The resort is perfect hideaway for those who seek a respite from the strenuous pace of modern existence to rejuvenate the body and mind in idyllic tranquil environs.

Ayurveda lays stress on prevention of diseases and promotion of health and well being of both the body and the mind. It treats the root causes of diseases than merely suppressing the symptoms. According to ayurveda, the treatment is all the more effective, when conducted in an agreeable natural atmosphere that is pleasing to the body and mind of the patience. All treatments carried out here are after the consultation with and under the supervision of the chief physicians. Yoga classes are also conducted here as a supplementary programme.
