Choice Hotels India

From a small chain of roadside hotels in the
1930s to one of the world's largest hotel franchisors, Choice Hotels today
is built on a history of industry firsts and innovations. Vilas
Pawar, CEO of Choice Hotels India, reacts on winning the award
for the Quality Inn brand
Your reaction on winning the Best Franchise Hotel
Brand award. We are honoured. It's an encouragement to the entire team
without whose efforts we couldn't have achieved this.
What are the factors contributing to your success?
We offer value for money to our franchisees. We have close-knit
relations with them and try to cater to all their requirements.
What are the company's future plans? We are adding more franchisees and plan to augment more
services. We are not here for short term goals but want to expand our
company as the largest franchise hotel brand in the country.
The company currently has 35 hotels across 24 destinations
in the country and we are looking to add 10-12 properties to this every
year for the next two to three years. Our expansion plans would see the
promoter companies invest about Rs 700-750 crore in the next couple of
years. This will increase the total room capacity to 3,000 from the current
2,000. In fact, the budget hotel segment is still largely untapped and
we foresee huge opportunities in the sector.
Along with our involvement in marketing and branding of
hotels, we are starting to manage our properties as well. We will be managing
all our budget hotels in the metros and major cities from March next year.
This would not only help us add to our revenue figures but also build
our brand image further.
