Landmark
travel distribution convention hails India's online travel
reality
India's first ever B2B event focusing on travel distribution
online and related technologies was in a way an overdue homecoming
for online travel in India. A space that had been viewed with
some skepticism like all things dotcom through the early millennium
years was spoken of in the same breath of enthusiasm as Indian's
resurgent aviation sector, which is not altogether unrelated
to this phenomenon. Business sessions across October 25 and
26 featured Indian and international speakers who pondered
the challenges and celebrated the opportunity of the relatively
latent yet promising Indian online travel space. Bhisham Mansukhani
and Jyoti Koul present the highlights of the deliberations
and discussions.
Worldspan
to set up 14 new offices in India
A new entrant into the Indian market, Worldspan is the only
GDS that does not own or operate an online agency unlike its
other counterparts in the GDS segment. Therefore, it does
not compete with travel agencies as a travel retailer.
