Somatheeram awarded the Best Ayurvedic Centre for the seventh time

Somatheeram has been awarded with the Kerala State - Tourism Award for the Best Ayurvedic Centre for the record seventh time. Somatheeram, founded in 1990, as India's first Ayurvedic Health Resort has been a family rum business under the management of Polly Mathew and Baby Mathew until recently. At the beginning of this year a restructuring was done and completed. After this the central business sector of Somatheeram is now under the direction of Polly Mathew and Jaison Arampankudy. The Somatheeram Ayurvedic Health Resort is situated on the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is set amidst an idyllic garden of 5 acres. The distance to Kovalam is just a 15-minute drive, with Thiruvanathapuram only half an hour away. It is situated in a lush green eco-friendly environment, where one can relax, breathing in fresh air. "Besides strong emphasis on Ayurvedic care, Somatheeram Health Group attaches great importance to guest accommodation", says Polly Mathew, chairman and managing director, Somatheeram Health Group.

The property has 4 mini cottages, 10 ordinary cottages, 13 special cottages, 9 ordinary Kerala houses, 3 Deluxe Kerala houses - Mana, Tharavadu, Nalikettu making each building a unique piece of art. The suite room is named Sidhartha Palace. Somatheeram provides its clients with a combination of different services found nowhere else - Authentic Ayurveda, Yoga and traditional accommodation in original Kerala houses by the seaside.
