Galileo India has announced the appointment of Bruce Hanna as the chief operating officer for its entire India operations. Bruce has been closely acquainted with the Galileo system over the past thirteen years as an account director for various markets including Europe and the Americas. He has also got a strong hold on the Asian markets with a deep involvement on strategy in markets like Korea, China and Bangladesh.
Dharam Pal is the new commissioner cum secretary, tourism, Andaman and Nicobar administration, who has taken over from Chetan B Sanghi. Pal was serving the United Nations as a civil affair officer with the UN's peace keeping mission in Kosovo. He also conducted relief operations and helped in disaster management in the islands. The IAS officer has completed his Masters of Technology in IIT, New Delhi.
Kaushal Nanavati has been appointed as the new vice president - sales, Harvey India. Prior to this, he has worked with Trimurti for 2 years. He has also worked for Tour Club as team consultant for a period of six years.
G S Chenny, vice president (southern region), Choice Hotels India, Master Franchisee of Choice Hotels International based in United States, has moved from Chennai to Bangalore as executive director of Sabari Inn Pvt Ltd to pursue the growth plans of Choice Hotels India.
He will oversee the hotel's operations and assist in developing the future hospitality projects of Sabari Inn at Bangalore and other parts of South India.

Gulf Air has announced the appointment of Lee Shave as vice president, marketing & sales. When he takes on the new position at Gulf Air, Shave will oversee all aspects of the airline's marketing and sales strategy and its implementation across the global network. Following a six-month assignment with Qatar Airways as commercial director, he worked as joint managing director of Travel Industry Services and finally as global commercial director of the STA Travel Group, before concluding the agreement to join Gulf Air in Bahrain.The appointment of the new vice president, marketing & sales is seen as central to the implementation of Gulf Air's ambitious new three-year strategy, 'Smart Airline, Successful Business'.
Dale Moss has been appointed as chief operating officer, Jet Airways, at the airline's corporate office in Mumbai. In his current assignment, he will be responsible for passenger sales, cargo & operation, Information Technology, IT network and communication.
His most recent appointment was as director of worldwide sales & marketing, Worldwide Cargo for British Airways, based in London from 1998 - 2004.
Sarah Berry has been appointed as Representative - India German National Tourist Office. Prior to this, Berry was working with Switzerland Tourism as key account & media manager, North & East India, prior to which she was working with Swissair as an airhostess.
Natasha Chandhok has been appointed as marketing coordinator German National Tourist Office - India. Previously she had been working with Lufthansa for ten years handling the service team for passenger sales and services.

Ankur Bhatia has been elected as the new Chairman of CII Delhi State Council, for the year 2006 - 07. He takes over from A K Kaul, managing director and CE0 of Horizon Industrial Products Pvt. Ltd. Bhatia is the executive director of the consortia of the Bird Group of Companies.
Gopa Thilakan was recently appointed as the business head of Leisure for the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu region - Travel Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd at its Bangalore branch. Having started her career with Lufthansa Airlines in 1981, she has thereafter worked in several agencies like PL World Ways, Manor Travels and International Travel House.
Sudhir M Pai has joined as corporate executive chef, Sarovar Hotels and Resorts and will be based in Mumbai. He brings with him 21 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked with The Orchid, Ambassador, Leela Kempinski and Oberoi Towers. He has also worked in the Middle East at the Dubai Metropolitan and Sahara Hotel.
Sanjeev Shekhar, who is the regional director (Western India) at Sarovar Hotels, will now also manage Hotel Marine Plaza, Mumbai.

Sarosh Khatib has joined as general manager - India, Star Cruises. He will be based out of Mumbai and will be responsible for overseeing Star Cruises' sales and marketing and operations in India. He brings with him 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
Manabendra Mukherjee has taken over as the minister of tourism, government of West Bengal.
The IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) launched the state committee of Andhra Pradesh recently. Mohd Maqsood Ahmed was elected the president of the committee.
Mohd Mujahid Ali Taher was elected the treasurer of the IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) state committee of Andhra Pradesh.

Cecil George has joined as the sales manager at Vaisnavi Residency, Bangalore. Prior to this, he has worked with The Taj Group of Hotels, ‘Al-Rahama’ in Dubai, and across United States, Canada and Australia with a total of 11 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
John Peter joined as general manager at the newly opened five star hotel, Parkfield Resotel, Bangalore. He was earlier with ITC Welcome group at Bahrain, with Viceroy at Hyderbad, and worked for RMS Hotel & Resorts Management Group.
Rajiv Kaul has been appointed senior VP at The Leela Palaces & Resorts. Kaul has experience in three continents in four countries spread over 28 years. He has worked and resided in India, Nepal, France and Egypt and was recently with the Taj Group, managing the flagship hotel Taj Mahal Palaces and Tower along with being responsible for three other properties in Mumbai.
Naveen Jain has been appointed as VP (Finance & Planning) at The Leela Palaces & Resorts. He has 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector and is chairman of CFO World, a member of Editorial Board of Chartered Accountants World as well as of Finance Sub-Committee of Hotels Association of India. His last assignment was with Cinnovation Group as its COO.

Martin van der Reijden has been appointed
as the MD (Resort Collection) from 1 August 2006. He will oversee all current
properties within the Resort Collection including Huvafen Fushi, Dhoni Mighili,
The Fortress, Desert Palm and Vie. In addition to this, he will work closely
with Kristina Pacheco, group director of Project Development to source new
resort management opportunities throughout the Indian Ocean and Asia, including
India, Thailand, Malaysia and the Middle East.

Christian Lueke has been appointed the corporate director (Sales & Marketing) for the group of Amari Hotels & Resorts, Thailand. He is a German national with over 10 years hotel sales experience from leading hotels in Germany. He will be based at Amari's corporate office in Bangkok and will handle travel trade contracting for the European markets and the group's e-commerce and GDS strategy.
Sudhakar Babu Y has been promoted as the VP of Dolphin Hotels Limited, the hospitality division of Ramoji Group, from the post of GM. He will now head the operations of the hotels division and will be responsible for not only the operations and finance of the hotels but also oversee activities of the regional sales offices spread across the country.
Thierry Gressier has been appointed group head (F&B) of Neemrana Hotels. He will be located in New Delhi. He will take charge of all the properties that will include daily activities of the hotel's restaurants and bar facility, customer care, maintaining F&B standards, staff training, co-ordination, etc.
