promotion and sale of Canadian tourism products and services. Among the highlights
of Rendezvous Canada this year were the information sessions for new buyers
and sellers including the Information Session on China called `Doing Business
with China.' The Indian delegation requested for a similar session on `Doing
Business with India' for the 2007 edition of Rendezvous Canada to be held in
Quebec City between April 28 to May 2, 2006.
The Tourism Industry Association of Canada has been organising
Rendezvous Canada on behalf of the Canadian Tourism Commission since 1997 in
different destinations in Canada bringing together selected international buyers,
media and invited suppliers of Canadian tourism products, services and information.
The industry management ensures the event meets the needs and expectations of
the industry it serves. Participants at Rendezvous Canada are assured on prior
request around 75 appointments of 15 minutes each with the hosted buyers and
sellers. The buyer delegates are invited on their ability to sell Canadian tourism
products. These delegates have buying authority and their primary goal is to
negotiate new business with sellers.
Over 400 Buyer delegates from around the world participate
annually. The companies they represent are invited based on their ability to
sell Canadian tourism products. These delegates have buying authority and their
primary goal is to negotiate new business with sellers. Over 500 Canadian seller
companies from every region of the country are part of the event. These companies
have proven track records and sell uniquely Canadian products and services.
They offer accommodation, attractions, tours, transportation and events from
across Canada. Also a host of destination marketing companies and organisations
take part, which includes over 80 provincial and territorial tourism departments,
as well as regional and local tourism associations. These provide information
and assistance in order to promote tourism in their areas of responsibility.
Besides this a select group of government and non-government organisations are
also at hand to provide information useful to the tourism industry.
