Krishnendu: Ayurveda gives fresh lease to life

"Give Ayurveda a chance before you panic and turn to other systems of medicine while afflicted with a lingering health problem such as a spine disorder or arthritis", asserts Dr C K Mohan Babu, head of Krishnendu, a holistic ayurveda hospital at Chingoli, a sleepy village near Karthikapally in Alappuzha district. "Contrary to general belief, 'Sukha Chikilsa' (wellness modules) can be practised effectively in all seasons of the year", he reveals.

Health ailments are not something to curse but a state of life, Dr Babu, says. "Regaining the equilibrium of one's mind and body could be achieved through redefining the approach towards cure". Redefining the concept of holistic treatment, in a picturesque and beckoning ambience, the renowned hospital carries with it the traditional wisdom set forward by four generations. With a legacy of around a century, as an institution established in 1908 by late M C Kunjuraman Vaidyar, Krishnendu has come a long way in providing exclusive holistic and personalised treatment programmes for a host of diseases including arthritis and spine disorders and specialised treatment for cervical spondylosis, lumber spondylosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy and other degenerative diseases and restore optimum health and well being. Through four generations of family physicians, the institution has carved a niche for itself. The legacy is safe as ever in the hands of Dr Babu now.

A system of treatment and cure developed and followed by Krishnendu with the objective of attaining freedom from ailments on the one hand and total rejuvenation of the body on the other has attracted widespread acclaim, going by the fact that patients who step in are mostly those referred to by patients who have availed treatment in the hospital earlier. "A unique feature of the hospital is that the medicines prepared is exclusively for patients and is not sold outside. The traditional and ancient note of ingredients for decoction and other methods of treatment are in high demand", Dr Babu pointed out.

Krishnendu, an ISO 9001: 2000 certified centre, has also got Green Leaf Certification awarded by the department of tourism, Government of Kerala. It offers a wide range of ayurvedic treatments in all its authenticity and entirety.
