BITE 2006
BITE 2006 promises to be bigger, better

The
second Bahrain International Travel Expo (BITE) 2006 will be held under the
auspices of His Highness, Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and
Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The three-day event is scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from May
9-11, 2006. After its phenomenal success last year, BITE 2006 promises to be
even bigger and better. This year exhibitors from Australia, Bahrain, Brunei,
Cyprus, Egypt, France, China, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singa-pore,
Syria, Turkey and the UAE have already signed up.

At a press conference held recently to announce BITE 2006,
Jamil A Wafa, chairman & chief executive, Unitag Group said, "In response
to the high demand from participants at last year's show and the keen interest
expressed by various countries and Tourism Boards, we decided to increase the
exhibition area from 1,000 to 4,000 square meters. It will be held at Bahrain
International Exhibition Center."
To facilitate and ease the operational and logistical aspects of this show,
BITE has entrusted Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management (MEEM) to manage
and organise this event. MEEM has launched the website - www.bitebahrain.com
to assist exhibitors and participants.
The main sponsor for BITE 2006 is the Economic Development Board (EDB) and there
is phenomenal support extended by the Ministry of Information -Tourism Affairs,
the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Bahrain Internat-ional Exhibition
Center. Hilal Group are the official media partners of BITE 2006.
Hisham Al Baradie, chairman, MEEM, said, "The continued focus of BITE 2006
would be to provide a forum for representatives from the travel, tourism and
hotel industries to interact directly with the consumers both local and expatriates
from Bahrain and the neighboring GCC countries."
| For the first time in the Middle East, 75 MICE hosted
buyers comprising senior corporate executives, MICE travel experts and professional
journalists will be attending BITE 2006. The MICE hosted buyers' visit to
the exhibition will be facilitated by scheduled one-on-one meetings. This
way BITE 2006 provides the opportunity for proactive interaction amongst
the buyers and sellers. In addition, special tailormade sight-seeing tours
will be arranged to cover the various cultural and historical attractions
and conduct hotels inspection tour.

Group said, "To give you a bit of background on the volume and scope
of the MICE market, MICE tourism is an industry of its own, generating
a total of 652 billion dollars per annum." He continued, "We
are planning to tap this booming market and secure a small fraction of
this large volume of business. This will complement the efforts by the
Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to boost its tourism industry, thus
opening employment opportunities for our younger generation."
Gulf Air has come forward as an active participant
and sponsor to fly the hosted buyers. The five-star hotel owners committee,
will be supporting BITE 2006 and have agreed to host the guests throughout
their stay in Bahrain.
