VisitBritain to focus on satellite cities in India

ETW Staff - Mumbai

The Indian outbound segment is booming and the National Tourist Offices (NTOs) are working overtime to get their share of the tourism pie. VisitBritain after garnering business from the standard metro destinations is all set to penetrate the satellite towns and mini metros. The Board has their promotional offers and strategies in place which have been designed after extensive research and survey working on the requirements and demands from these emerging markets. The sudden boom in air connectivity between India and Britain with increased seat capacity on the sector from other points apart from the metros have also bolstered the Boards plans to strengthen their position in other parts of India. Mentions Punam Singh, country manager-India, Visit Britain, "The Indian market is extremely buoyant and we are ready to reap the benefits of this wave. There is a large untapped clientele base in the regional markets, in smaller towns and cities in India. Business tourism, sports tourism is also an area that VisitBritain is serious about promoting and marketing within India."

VisitBritain, is also making optimum ultilisation of the Internet for their marketing and promotional activities. The Broad's objective is to make use of the web as an effective source of network and promotions both in India and globally, with online promotions such as interactive quiz, games, competitions etc. Virtual marketing is yet another form in which they aim to extend their reach and presence in the Indian market, especially through technology.
