Cocohol releases offbeat options including election tourism

The Muduvar tribe, which inhabits the mountain ranges in Munnar (Kerala) in the Western Ghats, calculates its age with blossoming of the Kurinji - Neelakurinji. This legendary flower blooms once in 12 years and is due to enliven the mountain scapes of Munnar, once again this year. Legends has that, Murugan, the god for the Kurinji area, wore a garland of Kurinji flowers when he married the tribal girl Valli. After blossoming, the plant wilts.

Cocohol Tours and Travel Pvt Ltd, a UK based tour operator promoting tourism internationally with primary focus on Kerala and India, has introduced packages for customers to visit and witness this once in a lifetime event. "The Neelakurinji flower that blooms after twelve years on the hill top would be an added attraction to nature lovers from across the world. The flower is expected to bloom during September 2006," says Sibhu Karthikeyan, head of Indian operations. Visitors will be free to combine their sightseeing with 'Cocotrail' the fixed departure bus tour offered by the company.

Kerala is also heading towards another round of Legislative Assembly elections in May 2006 as part of elections in India. Since the multi-party system is the base of Kerala's politics, the various political parties who are facing the people will ignite the legislative assembly elections with rallies, speeches, fun events and poster campaigns. Overall, elections in Kerala are colourful with demonstrations and decorations all round and conducted in a peaceful environment. Cocohol has introduced packages for customers world over to experience elections in Kerala, including psephologists, professional and amateur political analysts and others who are interested in experiencing the heat of politics. "Election based package is an innovative step in the history of Kerala tourism," says Renjith Kumar, manager- Indian Operations Cocohol. "Certainly, it is a big step to showcase the democratic specialities of India to the global society," he added.

As Kerala is an exotic and lovely destination the 'Wedding in Kerala' package offered by the company already grabbed attention from foreigners. Cocohol has also introduced stress reliever package, the first of its kind specially designed for workers of the IT & BPO industry. "The package certainly will be a moment of ease for those who are working in fast paced and tension filled industry," says Suresh Vargis, manager - marketing and sales.

Apart from these, Cocohol also showcases a number of inbound and outbound packages for its customers all over the globe. The company is looking forward to step-up as a potential player in the tourism industry with its offbeat options.
