Cendant Makes Entry Into India

After a surge in international travel and hotel companies in the past couple of months, competition in the market is to further intensify as Cendant is all set to make its presence felt in India with some or all of their brands.

Spearheading Cendant’s India plans as well as the Middle-East region will be Sunil Mathur, ex-chief operating officer, Choice Hotels India. Speaking exclusively to the Express Travel & Tourism, Mathur revealed that Cendant is most certainly looking at increasing its presence in India. “We will venture into India with all or some of our brands. We are currently working out the modalities as well as the feasibility of introducing the brands in the Indian sub-continent market.” Cendant is one of the world’s largest hotel franchise systems with well-known names like Ramada, Travelodge, Days, Howard Johnson etc in the portfolio. The company also owns Galileo GDS, RCI Timeshare, Gulliver Travels as well as several internet booking sites.
