The much-talked about TAFI annual convention that was slated to be held on
August 11-14 2005 in Singapore has been rescheduled to mid-September.
Zakkir Ahmed, president of TAFI, discloses, "The unexpected
heavy rainfall in Mumbai in the last week of July has created a lot of problems
for the travel community. Airlines, travel agents, tour operators and even passengers
have all suffered a setback due to the rains, which created havoc and disrupted
normal routine. With the current scenario in mind, we have decided to postpone
the convention to mid-September. This was done keeping the travel fraternity
in mind since holding a convention at this time would not be appropriate. The
final date will be decided based on the room and airline availability."

Elaborating further, Captain Pramod Kohli, committee member,
national TAFI committee, chairman of convention committee as well as the insurance
committee, said, "Everything else remains the same with regards to the
theme, programme schedule, etc. There might be slight changes considering the
fact that all our speakers need to be reconfirmed. However, on the delegate
front, we did receive quite a few bookings, which will remain good till the
postponed date. Our expectations in terms of participation also remains positive."
Concluding, Praveen Chugh, VP, TAFI, said, Continous efforts are on to
hold the convention at the earliest, but in all likelihood, it would be somewhere
around mid-September.
