Lille3000 To Showcase India in ‘06

ET&T STAFF - MUMBAI

The French project Lille3000, that invites visitors to discover different countries and their cultures, will be showcasing India in its next event to be held in Lille in 2006.

The event will start off with the Diwali festival. It will highlight three main regions - Mumbai, Bangalore and Hampi - discovering India through literature, cinema, arts, music, language, etc and will present works by various Indian artists. Although the exact date of the event has not been finalised, the venue has been decided. It will be held in one of the maisons Folie locations, property of the European Capital Culture.

Keeping this in mind, it has circulated a booklet that highlights India's various moods and phenomena. It aims to bring together people from diverse backgrounds together and give them a brief description about India to familiarise them with the country's art and culture.

The three partners that have joined hands for this project are Ville de Lille, mobile telecom company SFR, and Accor from the hotel industry. It has chosen Eastern Europe for its next programme to be held in 2008.

Paris City Council Gets Tourist Friendly

In an effort to promote Paris in the international market, the Paris City Council has launched a city guide booklet and a city pass for tourists visiting the city.

The booklet, called Paris City Passport, is printed in French and English and comes with a city guide that encloses about 300 euros of special offers. It is valid for a year and is available at different costs depending upon the coupons that come with it that will give tourists access to museums, shows, galleries, etc. The City Passport concept has been used throughout Europe and is available in about 40 countries. It can also be bought online from www.parisinfo.com
