Leela Bags Bombay Chamber Civic Award

The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai, has bagged the Bombay Chamber's Civic Award 2004-2005 for environmental excellence. Captain C P Krishnan Nair, chairman of the Leela Group of Hotels, received the award from the Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaran. The occasion was held on the 169th annual general meeting of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Leela has been involved in greening and beautifying land between the international airport at Sahar to the domestic airport. Capt Nair is has also been responsible for transforming barren land in Mumbai, Bangalore and Goa. The hotel has received several awards for its contribution towards greening the environment including the PATA gold award 2002, the Maharana Udai Singh Award 2002 and the VP Menon Award 2000.
