TAFI Convention To Focus On Keeping Pace With Challenging Times

Charmaine Fernz - Mumbai

After having selected Singapore as 'the' venue for the next TAFI annual convention, the convention committee has finalised on the theme - Keeping Pace With Challenging Times. The hotel for the convention is also finalised as the Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Singapore. Elucidating the reason for the selection, Zakkir Ahmed, president, TAFI said, "There is lot happening in the travel and tourism industry globally as well from the Indian perspective. Increased connectivity, tourists, global changes etc and the industry has to gear up to meet these challenges. With all these factors under consideration, we froze on the theme."

Elaborating Captain Promod Kohli, committee member, national TAFI committee, chairman, convention committee and chairman, insurance committee said, "Our expectations in terms of participation is around 800-1000 plus delegates. As of now, registrations are coming in and this would increase once the brochure is printed and ready. We have also just launched the TAFI website - www.tafionline.com. An international Travel Mart is also being planned alongside the annual convention, wherein we are looking at least 75-100 participants from in and around South East Asia. Till date, we have received a good response beyond our expectations from countries such as Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia and even the local agents association in Singapore. These destinations apart from participation are also looking at bringing in teams. This mart is also open to participation from Indian states. On a lighter note, pre and post-tours would be conducted for delegates in and around the country and surrounding destinations as well."
