Enhanced Abacus Whiz - Making Travel Operations Easy

Abacus International recently launched a range of enhancements to its workstation booking solution, Abacus Whiz 3.1 that will give travel agencies more ticketing options, increased language support and wider access to other Abacus solutions. The enhanced Abacus Whiz is available for travel agents in all markets who are employing version 3.1, which includes Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan and Taiwan. More markets will be launched later in the year.

Travel agents supported by Abacus Whiz 3.1 will now have seamless access to Abacus TravelNetwork, the first travel management and distribution solution that hosts, manages and distributes air and non-air travel and leisure content. With access to a wider range of integrated solutions, travel agencies now have the ability to increase their revenue streams and provide their customers with a wider range of booking options.

Upgrades in Abacus Whiz 3.1 also include the latest in security technology as well as priority enhancements demanded by the markets. Language upgrades incorporates the addition of the Russian language to Abacus Whiz 3.1, which already supports English, traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese, as well as the masking of labels and messages now available in the same four languages.

For Abacus-connected travel agents in India, the upgrade allows them to print tickets for Indian Airlines domestic bookings. Until now, the travel agency has manually written tickets issued by Abacus subscriber travel agents in India. Manually written tickets are not only time consuming to prepare, but more difficult to verify if not completed correctly or redeemed in a different market.

"Abacus Whiz is our most popular point-of-sale solutions throughout the region, as it provides secure and easy access to the widest range of end-to-end travel solutions for our agents," said Aileen Tan, vice-president, Centres of Excellence, Abacus.

Travel agents can now customise traveller itineraries according to their preferred layouts, text properties and the graphical user interface helps to ensure increased stability and faster response.

"Since its launch we have continually sought feedback from travel agencies on how we can develop the solution to improve the overall experience of the agents and increase their efficiency for enquiries, bookings and ticketing," said Ms Tan. "This latest enhanced version will enable travel agencies to access both the Abacus Central Reservation System and other applications using the same PC, thus ultimately expanding the opportunities for new revenue streams."
