Tourism Malaysia To Launch Innovative Packages

Jyoti Koul - Mumbai

Tourism Malaysia is launching packages for youth for the first time in the country in April this year. This move along with reaching out to secondary cities is part of an aggressive strategy to garner more tourist traffic from India to Malaysia. "Indian youth can prove to be a big target market for Malaysia and therefore we are planning to create basic packages for this segment.

We are aiming to attract the 'call centre-crowd' and young executives offering them exciting options of adventure activities at affordable rates by promoting youth hostels and home-stays etc," revealed Madhu Saliankar, marketing manager, Tourism Malaysia. Apart from the launch of this youth package the board is also busy formulating other innovative packages like ‘fly and drive’, ‘fly, drive and cruise’ and a special package for only 'ladies.' "The ladies only, is a very new concept and we are currently working on the various aspects of this package. We have mega plans and we are planning to launch this package in

July 2005 during the mega sale period in Malaysia. It is a very special package for very special segment and I do not want to divulge any further details on this," informed Saliankar.

Apart from these packages, Tourism Malaysia is also focusing on tapping the market in secondary cities. After Chandigrah, Tourism Malaysia is all set to focus on Indore, Bhopal, Shimla, Jaipur and Udaipur. "We have got a strong foothold as far as primary cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata etc are concerned and we now plan to focus our concentration on secondary cities, which have potential but are not aware of our products," concluded Saliankar.
