Rajasthan Tourism Department Spruces Up Tourism Initiatives

In an effort to become India's leading tourist destination the Rajasthan Tourism Department has endeavoured over the past couple of months to spruce its tourism initiatives.

The major initiatives are:

1. The Department has for the first time got its own Web Portal, so that domestic and foreign tourist can have online information about Rajasthan Tourism.

2. The Project Report for the renovation, reconstruction and commercial use of Tizara Fort has been prepared. Tender quotations have also been received. Its disposal is under consideration.

3. Tenders have been received from the private entrepreneurs for investment in the development of Jal Mahal, Jaipur. The highest bidder would provide Rs. 2.52 crore annually and Rs 125 crore will be invested on this project in the next four years.

4. For establishing a ropeway at Mount Abu and Udaipur Project report was got prepared and tenders were invited. Due to the High Court stay order, it had delayed the execution of the project. For Udaipur, the stay order has been vacant and tender quotations have been received.

5. Today Golf Tourism has been pivot in the field of Tourism. It makes tourists stay longer at a place. Experts are being hired for preparation of Project Report for making international standard Golf Complex in Rajasthan.

6. Due to the untiring efforts of the department, at Jaipur Airport inflow of International Charter Flights has begun. An attempt is also being made for initiating similar international flights.

7. Recently, the department has organised adventure sports activities at Jaipur and Kota. For identification of adventure sports tourism sited in the state, project report is being prepared.

Due to the above initiatives and aggressive marketing programmes, there has been significant increase in development of tourism in Rajasthan and tourist arrivals.
