South
Goa Port Ready To Boost Cruise Tourism
Keen to tap the growing inbound cruise market, Goa Tourism
has earmarked a South Goa port for the development to the
extent that will make it capable to handle cruise ships docking
with it. Sector 10, a bay located at the Mormogoa Port Trust
is set to be upgraded with international class arrival and
departure loungers and a duty free shopping centre, forex
counter and restaurants. According to Travel and Tourism Association
Of Goa (TTAG) president, Charlers Bonifacio, the facility
should be ready to receive cruise liners by June. Bonifacios
was addressing an audience comprising the national and international
travel trade as well as media at the innaugaral edition of
Travel World, India's biggest and only B2B travel trade event,
part of Express World 2005.
Maharashtra
Government On A Tourism Enhancement Spree
A brand new hill station is among the numerous projects initiated
by the state government to boost tourism in the state. Maharashtra
has a plethora of tourist attraction and the government is
focusing on making it a preferred destination for both foreign
and domestic tourists, stated Vijaysinh Mohite Patil,
minister, rural development and tourism, Maharashtra.
Uttaranchal:
Bollywoods New Hot Spot
These days, Uttaranchal is wooing Bollywood with its pristine
hills and lakes as a prime film shooting location. Recent
blockbusters like Charas, Kisna and
Little Terrorist were shot in Uttaranchal. The
state government has announced incentives for the film industry
to shoot there instead of spending huge amounts of money at
foreign locations.

Tourism Department Spruces Up Tourism Initiatives
In an effort to become India's leading tourist destination
the Rajasthan Tourism Department has endeavoured over the
past couple of months to spruce its tourism initiatives.
Jet
Set For US Landing
Jet Airways will be the first private Indian carrier to fly
to the US. The government recently gave the airline permission
to to start three flights a week to New York via Brussels
from April. "This follows the air services agreement
between India and the US recently," said a civil aviation
ministry official.
