CAPA Aviation & Tourism Investor Summit 2005: June 21-22 In Mumbai

Charmaine Fernz - Mumbai

The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) will hold its annual Indian Subcontinent and Middle East Aviation and Tourism Investor Summit 2005 in Mumbai at the Grand Hyatt on June 21-22, 2005. In an exclusive with Express Travel & Tourism, Kapil Kaul, CEO - Indian Subcontinent & Middle East, CAPA revealed, "Gauging the growth, it is seen that as the economies of the Indian subcontinent and Middle East are expanding, rising income levels and increasing trade links are expected to generate a dramatic increase in both domestic and international passenger traffic. Further, the countries in these regions definitely have the potential to attract far higher levels of traffic."

Elaborating on the need to hold the Summit, Kaul said, "There are various opportunities that exist across regions in areas such as funding of start-up airlines, restructuring and privatisation of flag carriers, airport expansion and modernisation, ground handling operations, travel technology, business mergers, acquisitions, exhibition and convention centres and finally, tourism infrastructure.

“The Summit will consist of high-level speaker programmes with an accompanying exhibition showcasing specific projects, regions and investors. The key objective of the event is to provide a networking forum for governments, financiers, entrepreneurs and aviation and tourism industry operators to discuss investment opportunities in the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East."

In conclusion, Kaul added, "We would look at inviting investment banks, private equity funds, foreign aid development funds, investment promotion boards, start up airlines, airlines preparing to float or restructure, business jet fleet operators, airport owners and operators, property developers, hotel operators, theme parks, construction companies, tourism boards, government ministries for finance infrastructure, transportation, tourism and civil aviation both national and regional."
