TAFI Annual Convention In February 2005

Charmaine Fernz - Mumbai

Zakir Ahmed

'The wait has finally comes to an end…' is a statement which holds true for the much-awaited Travel Agents Federation of India's (TAFI) annual convention. After three long years, the new committee with a renewed focus and plans has decided to hold the annual convention from February 20-23, 2005, either in Singapore or Thailand.

Says an enthusiastic Zakir Ahmed, president, TAFI, "We are expecting a turnout of about 600 delegates from India as well as the surrounding ASEAN countries. There is a lot that is still being decided at the moment, be it the speakers, topics of discussion, or even the theme. We can assure the fact that our topics will be relevant to the happenings in the industry; some of topics under scrutiny are - The Future of the Travel Industry, The No Frills Phenomena etc. The executive committee as well as other related members are working dedicatedly to make this convention a success."

Apart from the annual convention, there would also be a Travel Mart alongside which would accommodate around 50 stalls and have participants from the ASEAN regions. There are pre- and post-tours being conceptualised in and around the region as well with surrounding countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand," added Ahmed.
