B K Ong, manager - India, Singapore Airlines winner of the ‘Best East-Bound Airline from India’ for the second consecutive year talks to Charmaine Fernz on the what it takes to be a winner..

What does the award mean to you?

We are proud to win this award and are grateful to all those who have testified to our products and services. It is another manifestation that Singapore Airlines exists to provide the quality and standards customers want from airlines. That has always been our philosophy and we intend to continue to be the best for customers.

What according to you was the secret to your success?

We owe it to all our staff who has contributed to make Singapore Airlines a great airline - a combination of outstanding in-flight and ground service, our care for cabin details like in-flight meals and wide range entertainment, and hardware such as the latest aircraft with comfortable seating and cabin.

How do you plan to retain this success?

We will continue to innovate with regards to our offerings be it products and services to match our customers' needs.

What are Singapore Airlines future plans for India?

We would like to be expand and add more services in India, if we able to secure more rights. There is a need for more capacity to the key metros to cope with the demand as India continues to grow strongly both in tourism and economically. There is plenty of overseas interest in India for business and investments. India also has many diverse attractions that appeal to the growing leisure travellers from different parts of the world. It is all these factors and much more that increase our interest in the market.
