award defeating strong contenders in the said category. Paul Simmons,
senior vice-president, marketing, The Oberoi Group, spoke to Neeti Chopra
about how he plans to retain the success
What does it feel like after being judged the best premier
hotel brand?
We are very pleased with this recognition. This award endorses the standards
of excellence that The Oberoi Group strives to establish.
The competition was quite tough in your segment. What worked
to your advantage?
The vision and direction provided by the leadership of the company and the contribution
of all its employees and stakeholders is critical to our success. We believe
that our hotels and resorts have taken the concept of hospitality to a new paradigm
with our focus on product quality, attention to detail and quality of service.
These attributes are internalised in everything that we do.
Retaining this success is going to be crucial down the
line. How do you intend to do that?
By not resting on our laurels and continuously raising the bar for ourselves
and in what we offer our customers.
What are your future plans?
The 'Oberoi' is today a true luxury sector international
brand with a presence across six countries operating in the business and leisure
segments in the competitive set of brands like the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons.
We are working towards consolidating this position further as well as expanding
our presence in existing and new markets.
