Malaysia Airlines To Link Kolkata

Malaysia Airlines, which currently operates 18 flights per week to India, is looking at taking the score to 30 flights per week. In the winter schedule, the carrier plans to bring Kolkata and Ahmedabad online, start additional six frequencies and upgrade services in the Chennai sector.

Said Syed Abdillah Aziz, regional manager, south Asia, "We are adding two more flights to Hyderabad increasing it from once a week to thrice weekly, three more to Bombay (currently four) making Bom-Kul a daily service and one to Bangalore taking it from twice weekly to thrice weekly. We plan to start thrice-weekly operations to Ahmedabad and Kolkata from November 30 and January two respectively. We have got slot approvals and are now working with Air-India on commercial agreement."

However, Abdillah is not happy with the morning slot allotted out of Kolkata. "We are negotiating for a night slot because most of the connecting flights to other countries and to interior of Malaysia are in the morning," he added.
