`TAAI Will Set A New Benchmark For Eastern Region’

Ranvir Bhandari, general manager, ITC Hotel Sonar Bangla Sheraton & Towers, Kolkata, in an interview with Reema Sisodia speaks about the importance of hosting the upcoming convention. Excerpts

How does your hotel stand to gain from the convention?

This is a great opportunity to showcase the emerging face of West Bengal and inturn showcase the property. Today, Sonar Bangla is a symbol of change for the new Kolkata. After FHRAI, TAAI will be another feather in our cap.

What special arrangements have been made in regards to hosting TAAI ?

A whole new professional approach has been taken towards making the convention successful and at the same time making the stay for the delegates satisfying and comfortable. There is a core team in place which meets at regular intervals therefore planning and strategising at each step right from the morning work outs to business to dining and entertainment of the delegates. The team is working closely with the TAAI, Eastern region. Every minute detail is being looked into and ways to ensure to the extent possible personalised attention are being evolved.

How do hoteliers of the eastern region view TAAI?

We feel confident that TAAI will set a new benchmark for the eastern region and help in positioning the region as one with that of immense opportunities. It would also attract a lot of business opportunities to the region and therefore improve in the economic development of the state. It is also a great opportunity to market the region internationally.
