Anjmal Travels To Sell Russia In India

Reema Sisodia - Mumbai

Hoshi Adi Karanjia

In bid to augment tourism from India into Russia, Anjmal Travels & Tours has taken initiatives to sell the destination in the Indian market. The first step in the endeavour was to make extensive presentations along with members of the Russian Trade commission to leading tour operators in Mumbai.

Says Hoshi Adi Karanjia, proprietor, Anjmal Travel & Tours, "Russia is an unexplored region as far as tourism is concerned and hence my company has taken a single-minded dedication to sell the region in India. We have made efforts to market the product amongst leading tour brands and have also been proactive in promoting business between the two countries. We have also received concrete support from airlines flying the Mumbai-Moscow sector. We have infact recently organised a successful business delegation of 250 people from India to Russia in co-relation with TCI (Travel Corporation of India Ltd).

We also intend to sell Ukraine, Tazakistan and Kamchetka for adventure tourism. Selling Russia as a niche destinations our company’s future objective. The present consulate general of the Russian Federation in Mumbai Yury Maltsev has been extremely supportive in meeting our objectives.”

Though the Russian sector is a promising market and most of the points are completely positive, Karanjia points out one problem that can go against the destination. He explains, "Though everything goes in favour of the destination, there is a slight hitch that can work against it if not looked into with immediate effect. On my recent trip to the country, our group had to undergo extensive checking at the passport control at the Moscow Sherimeteva Airport. It is our request to authorities here in India to look into the matter and ease out visiting processes especially for tourist and business travellers specifically at the passport control section."
