New Heads For MPTDC

Reema Sisodia - Mumbai

Post elections, Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a number of changes in the tourism scenario both at the centre and state level. Along with few other states, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) has also received new heads and leaders. Ashwini Lohani has taken over as managing director MPTDC and Nitish Bharadwaj has taken over as chairman of MPTDC.

The new changes promise to bring in positive developments for the state in the area of tourism. Addressing his first press conference in Mumbai, the chairman of the corporation, Bharadwaj, emphasised on the importance of restructuring the entire set up and formulating a comprehensive media policy as his primary agenda. He added that it was necessary to go for destination development and circuit development especially connecting New Delhi as a part of the circuit plan.

Said Bharadwaj, “We are aware of the success of the other boards, which though are young in operations have surged ahead in terms of their promotions and visibility. We, at our end, have already started intensive research to position, project and promote Madhya Pradesh tourism in the right light and tapping the state’s complete tourism potential.”

The state aims to boost its world heritage sites regions and also train and reallocate its staff to bring in greater professionalism and efficiency. Using technology effective to further their initiative is something the state is aiming to do, within which, upgrading the state tourism boards website, and making it more user friendly is part of the plan.

When contacted, the managing director was not available for his comments on his recent portfolio.
