Jet Airways Launches Online Booking And e-Ticketing

Charmaine Fernz - Mumbai

Jet Airways recently launched its online booking service along with electronic ticketing. This global facility on www@jetairways.com will enable passengers to book tickets to any destination on the airline’s route network. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, chief executive officer, Jet Airways (India) Pvt Ltd disclosed that, “Travelling on an e-ticket is now becoming a global practice welcomed and appreciated by all travellers. It is convenient, safe, quicker to deliver and reduces the hassle of carrying conventional air tickets and passengers can now book, pay and print their Jet Airways e-tickets online from any point globally.”

Explaining further on the effects of the system on the trade, Gaurang Shetty, senior general manager - marketing, Jet Airways (India) Pvt Ltd, said, “Our complete focus is the customer and with this initiative, we do not plan to sideline the agent. e-ticketing will benefit the agent and in future we certainly plan to allow agents to issue e-tickets.” All one needs to do is fill in the requisite details and on successful conclusion of an online transaction the system will generate an e-ticket and an itinerary receipt which is mailed to the customer and is a confirmation of the reservation. For entering airport premises and check-in, a printout of the itinerary receipt has to be produced along with a valid photo identification (government issued photo identification, driving license, voter photo identification, photo credit card or passport in case of international passengers). The user friendly web booking engine on www.jetairways.com allows passengers to book one way, return or multiple segment tickets in four simple steps. All online reservations are required to be made at least two hours prior to departure. Payments have to be made through credit/charge cards. The service will be available for over 255 daily flights operated by Jet Airways except for flights from /to Srinagar, Khajuraho, Kochi and Colombo. Having successfully launched this system, Shetty discusses future issues, saying, “Our target is 100-150 bookings per day and from the current scenario, it looks achievable. We are also working on the Kolkata-Dhaka sector wherein the paperwork is being initiated.”
