Cathay Launches Website To Woo Agents

Anindita Chattopadhyay - New Delhi

In an effort to widen its travel agent base in the country - an approach that is in contrast with the normal practice of airlines doing business through consolidators - Cathay Pacific has launched a website CXagents.com to increase agent' reach across the country. “The aim is to build on our existing relationship with agents and encourage new relationships. We prefer to get more bookings from a broader cross section rather than through a handful of consolidators. However, it is not possible to reach out to every agent with a small sales team. Hence, we have launched this professional distribution and communication channel to reach out directly to Cathay agents even in smaller towns,” said Duncan Elliott, assistant to country manager, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The website, already a success in countries like Australia, Germany, UK, allows agents access to all the current fare sheets relevant to their sales region, details of the carrier’s products and services. In addition, they get exclusive access to special promotions that are only available to registered agents.

The site, pointed out Elliott, will improve operational processes and lower costs for Cathay and its agents. “For free registration, one has to just click on new registration at the site www.cxagents.com,” he added.
