‘Our Primary Focus Will Be To Explore New Opportunities’

Abdulla Nasser Abdulla Hussain, vice-president - India and Nepal, Emirates in an exclusive with Charmaine Fernz briefly talks about the airlines' plan for the India market

Having recently taken over, what are your plans for India?

My primary focus will be to explore new opportunities. I feel this will be achieved by bringing fresh perspectives to frequent business travellers who are looking to gain new experiences out of travel and in delivering the ultimate in luxury to the premium traveller.

Is Emirates planning on adding capacities or new destinations in India? If yes, why?

With both, leisure and business travel looking upward in and the increasing popularity of Dubai as a destination, we realise that the demand from India will also rise. Emirates, currently operates 43 flights weekly between India and Dubai. As such, we enjoy the status of a preferred carrier from India and would welcome the opportunity increase the tourism potential of any destination we fly to in either India or in the network.

What are the marketing and promotional strategies being incorporated this year for Emirates in India?

We recently launched the 19th frequency out of Mumbai on March 31st and will be launching Glasgow and Shanghai on April 10th, followed by Vienna on May 1st and New York on June 1st. A passenger travelling first or business to Glasgow and Shanghai can stay at the Hilton, Glasgow or the Inter-continental Shanghai complimentary, while a passenger travelling first or business to Vienna can stay at the Intercontinental Hotel Vienna. We currently offer excess baggage for students as well. We will also be launching certain promotional incentives that offer unparalleled value for our travellers. Emirates, is in the business of bringing fresh perspectives to frequent business travellers who are looking to gain new experiences out of travel.
