Embassy Of Ireland Announces New Visa Service

The Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi recently announced the introduction of their new visa application facilities throughout India, beginning March. The new Ireland Visa Application Centres are located at the same address as the UK Visa Application Centres. Applicants residing in the states of Karnataka and in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa should continue to make their applications to the Irish Consulates in Bangalore and Mumbai, respectively.

The Ireland Visa Application Centres will be operated by VFS India P Ltd, who will be responsible for accepting applications and providing advice and guidance. All applications will continue to be assessed by the visa officers at the Irish Embassy in New Delhi.

With the introduction of this new service, the Embassy hopes that this will encourage Indians to look at Ireland as a potential tourist destination; as many are already travelling to Britain and it is only a short hop across the Irish seat to Ireland. There are already in excess of 1,500 Indian students studying in Ireland and it is hoped that this trend will continue and that the processing of student visa applications will be made easier under these new arrangements.
